MÜLLERTHAL: Larochette, Beaufort & Echternach

The Müllerthal is especially known for its splendid forests, sandstone rocks and its medieval castles in Larochette and Beaufort. Enjoy its nature during a walk, mountain biking, climbing or maybe during a guided visit of the castles.

Echternach Springprocessie, Springprozession, Procession Dansante

Echternach is the region’s capital with a number of shops, cafés and restaurants. The main attractions of this border town along the Sûre are the Benedictine
Abbey founded by St. Willibrod in the 7th century and 15th century Rococo pavilion on the market square. The international festival of classical music from mid-May to early July, the unique dancing procession on Whit-Tuesday and the E-lake techno festival in august around the lake make Echternach one of the most popular destinations in Luxembourg.

Diekirch

Diekirch is a well-known, small town near the river Sûre. Every year, thousands of visitors come to Diekirch for its excellent
National Museum of Military History, its traditional Hiking Rally Marche the l'Armée in May, its Classic Car Museum and its 5 day beerfestival in the old town around mid July. Diekirch is of course the home of its eponymous Luxembourgish beer.

ARDENNES: Vianden, Clervaux, Bourscheid, Upper Sûre valley and the lake

The entirely restored castle of Vianden is the pearl of the Ardennes which is a heritage of the Royal Dutch Oranje-Nassau dynasty. During his exile, Victor Hugo inhabited a house in this picturesque medieval village. Today Vianden is a touristic town with a number of rustic cafés, a Victor Hugo museum, dolls and toys museum, an impressive water power plant, a chairlift with a stunning view and its infamous nut market in early October. In the summer the grand medieval festival takes place.

Clervaux is known for the St. Maurits abbey on top of this Ardennes town. A must during a visit is the Family of Man Photo gallery by Edward Steichen in the town castle and the Museum of the Battle for the Ardennes, which draw many visitors each year.

Bourscheid in the Sûre valley can be recognized from a distance through its
Impressive, partially restored medieval castle. From here you can enjoy one of the most spectacular views over the Ardennes.

Further upstream lays the cozy historical village Esch-sur-Sûre. At the House of the Nature Park you can purchase regional products and get more information about the area. On 1km distance stands the dam wall. On and around the lake several activities are on offer such as hiking, mountain biking, swimming, fishing, canoeing, windsurfing, sailing and diving.

THE MOSELLE & the wine

Luxembourg wines and crémants come from the Mosel. Boat excursions up- and downstream this border river, a wine tasting tour in a traditional wine cellar combined with a visit to the butterfly park in Grevenmacher can be booked at the reception desk of the campsite.

RED EARTH & the steel history

In the south of the Grand Duchy lies the industrial heritage of Luxembourg. In Rumelange you can visit the Mines Museum combined with a visit to Fond-de-Gras, where you can enjoy a traditional steam train ride from 1900 to Rodange, Pétange or the small village Lasauvage.
